Arsenal Abandon Pursuit of £70m Sensation This Summer
According to reports, Arsenal have decided not to continue their pursuit of Moises Caicedo, the £70m-rated midfielder from Brighton, during this summer transfer window.
Instead, the Gunners are focusing on other potential signings, leaving aside their interest in the Ecuadorian player.
Back in January, Mikel Arteta’s team had made three unsuccessful offers for Caicedo, but the young midfielder ended up signing a new contract with Brighton.
Although Caicedo is still anticipated to leave the club this summer, it seems Arsenal will not be revisiting their previous interest as they aim to strengthen their midfield through alternative targets.
According to The Times, it seems that Chelsea is now poised to secure the signing of Moisés Caicedo from Brighton, as Arsenal has reportedly decided to no longer pursue the midfielder.
Arsenal had initially shown interest in Caicedo at the beginning of the summer transfer window but have since withdrawn their interest. Brighton, led by manager Roberto De Zerbi, has remained firm on their valuation of £80m for the player.
Chelsea is reportedly making significant efforts to secure a deal for Moisés Caicedo, while Manchester United is also keeping tabs on the situation.
However, Manchester United’s current priority seems to be Mason Mount of Chelsea. Manchester United had an initial bid of £40m for Caicedo rejected, but they are expected to make a second offer in the coming days.
In the meantime, Arsenal has shifted their focus to West Ham captain Declan Rice. They had their initial bid of £80m turned down, and now they face competition from Manchester City for Rice’s signature.
Nevertheless, Arsenal is expected to come back with a second bid, and it is believed that Rice prefers a move to North London with Arsenal rather than joining Manchester City.
Additionally, Arsenal is engaged in discussions with Chelsea regarding a potential transfer for Kai Havertz.
The Gunners are aiming to strengthen their attacking options by adding the talented forward to their squad during this summer transfer window.
