Arsenal advised to use Kai Havertz in stunning swap deal for £70m Liverpool target
Arsenal has been advised to consider including the recently criticized summer acquisition, Kai Havertz, in a potential swap arrangement to secure the talented Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz.
Havertz, who arrived at the Emirates from Chelsea in a £65 million transfer this summer, has faced challenges in finding his form during his initial months with the club.
Havertz has frequently found himself excluded from Mikel Arteta’s favored starting lineup, and his sole goal for Arsenal resulted from a charitable penalty against Bournemouth, with Bukayo Saka offering him the opportunity to score from the spot.
He even played as a makeshift left-back for Germany in their recent match against Turkey, scoring in a 3-2 defeat.
Jermaine Pennant, a former Arsenal winger, strongly asserts that Havertz is not a suitable fit for the Gunners and suggests that he should be exchanged for one of his fellow countrymen.
Wirtz, the standout player from Bayer Leverkusen, has made a significant impact in the Bundesliga and is rumored to be a target for the Premier League, with Liverpool and Chelsea reportedly showing interest in the £70 million-rated talent.
“That Kai Havertz signing hasn’t worked,” Pennant told King Casino Bonus. “I thought I’d give him some time to settle in, but that period is over now. I think he’s been a poor signing. I don’t understand what he brings to the team as he’s not scoring or assisting. It’s bizarre as Arteta seems to believe in him.
“I think Arsenal should have gone for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz. His footballing IQ is off the charts! He’s not a speed-merchant, but he’s clever on the ball and he seems to always pick the right pass.
“His assists are great, he has an eye for goal, and I think he’d be a fantastic addition to Arsenal. He’d fit in perfectly there. Wirtz would be a lot cheaper, and they should trade him in for Kai!”
As the transfer window approaches, Wirtz is expected to attract significant attention, and Arsenal may encounter stiff competition from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, both of whom are reportedly interested in the 20-year-old forward.
The Daily Star has suggested that Jurgen Klopp holds a strong admiration for the young German and envisions him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield, especially if the Egyptian decides to join Saudi Arabia.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Manchester City are actively involved in the race for Wirtz’s signature. His notable performances under Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso, have captured the interest of several top European clubs.
Despite the intense competition, Arsenal could hold a potential advantage over their rivals by including Havertz in the deal.
Havertz had previously impressed at the German club, rising through their academy ranks and becoming a Bundesliga star before his £72 million move to Stamford Bridge in 2020.
