‘Arsenal are the favourites’: Romano says Declan Rice is most likely to sign for Arsenal
Despite recent reports linking West Ham midfielder Declan Rice with a potential move to Manchester United, Arsenal remains the top contender to secure his signature this summer.
It has been widely acknowledged that the England international is a high-priority target for the Gunners in the upcoming transfer window. While there will likely be strong competition for Rice’s services, respected journalist Romano has affirmed that Arsenal is currently leading the race.
Romano mentioned on the House of Champions Podcast that Arsenal is still considered the frontrunner to sign Rice, emphasizing that they have made significant progress in laying the groundwork for the deal.
The reporter shared what he knows about the ‘fast‘ midfielder and Arsenal.
“Yes, (Ten Hag is) an admirer and I think that’s normal, but it is the same with Mikel Arteta and I still think that Arsenal are the favourites to sign Declan Rice. They have been working on that deal, it was in January when they discussed Rice internally. They’ve already had him at the top of their list for the midfield, so I’m sure Arsenal will make a bid for Declan Rice in the next weeks,” Romano said.
While Arsenal currently holds the position as the frontrunners to sign Declan Rice, it’s important to acknowledge that there may be additional surprises and developments in this pursuit. The transfer race is likely to involve numerous twists and turns.
West Ham’s valuation of Rice surpassing £100 million means that there will be extensive offers, counteroffers, and negotiation strategies employed as interested clubs strive to lower the asking price.
Although Arsenal is currently leading the competition, it is crucial to recognize that the race is far from its conclusion, and there is still a long way to go before a deal is finalized.
