Arsenal’s GABRIEL MARTINELLI will be absent from the team’s last two Premier League matches due to an ankle injury he sustained during their game against Brighton. In Sunday’s 3-0 loss, Martinelli was substituted after only 20 minutes on the field following a tackle by Moises Caicedo.

Martinelli departed from the Emirates wearing a protective boot and is expected to be out of action for several weeks. However, Arsenal remains hopeful that he will make a full recovery in time for the pre-season.

Arsenal’s head of medical services, Gary O’Driscoll, expressed optimism on Sunday evening, believing that Martinelli could still make a comeback before the end of the current season.

In response to a fan’s inquiry following the defeat, O’Driscoll strongly criticized Caicedo’s tackle, describing it as a “terrible foul” and “disgraceful.”

Despite feeling sore, O’Driscoll mentioned that Martinelli should recover without any major issues. When asked about Martinelli’s return timeline, O’Driscoll expressed confidence, stating that he believes the Brazilian forward will be back in action before the season concludes.

Arsenal’s upcoming matches include a trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday and a home game against Wolves on May 28. If Arsenal were to lose to Forest, it would mathematically eliminate their chances of winning the title.

Even if Arsenal manages to win their upcoming game, Manchester City will secure their third consecutive Premier League title if they defeat Chelsea in their own match.

Meanwhile, while Gabriel Martinelli faces an injury setback, his teammate Bukayo Saka is expected to finalize a new five-year contract in the next two weeks.

It is reported that Saka will become Arsenal’s highest-paid player, surpassing Gabriel Jesus, with a weekly wage of approximately £300,000.
