Arsenal could now sell their star to Saudi Arabia, in bid to boost transfer funds

Arsenal is considering the possibility of selling one of their key players to Saudi Arabia in order to generate funds and strengthen their transfer budget for the upcoming summer.

The club has ambitious plans for the transfer window, and there are rumors suggesting that they are close to finalizing a deal for Declan Rice.

Since the departure of Arsene Wenger, Arsenal has faced difficulties in offloading players, but they might break that trend this summer with potential interest from European teams in players such as Kieran Tierney, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Folarin Balogun.

Interestingly, two other star players from Arsenal have expressed their desire to move on, and one of them could potentially find a new club in the Saudi Pro League.

This follows the footsteps of renowned players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Steven Gerrard, who have previously made moves to the Middle East.

Journalist Chris Wheatley has reported that Cedric Soares and Nicolas Pepe, who have both spent loan spells away from the Emirates Stadium, are looking to leave Arsenal. Pepe, in particular, is being targeted by clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Nicolas Pepe’s arrival at Arsenal in 2019 marked a significant moment for the club, as he became their most expensive signing at £72 million. This signing was seen as a statement of intent during Unai Emery’s tenure.

However, after three seasons with the Gunners, Pepe has been unable to replicate the impressive form he showcased during his time at Lille. As a result, he was sent on loan to Nice for the 2022/23 season.

If Arsenal were to sell Nicolas Pepe, it is unlikely that they would be able to recoup the full £72 million they initially paid for him. However, a move to the Saudi Pro League could potentially offer Pepe a salary that is comparable to what he has been earning at Arsenal.

Under Mikel Arteta’s management, Pepe has been replaced on the right wing by Bukayo Saka, who has performed well in that position. According to Art De Roche of The Athletic, it is anticipated that Reiss Nelson will be offered a new contract to serve as Saka’s backup on the right flank. This suggests that Arsenal is making plans to reinforce their options in that area of the pitch.

Indeed, Arsenal’s intention to bring in expensive new signings during this transfer window makes the potential sale of Pepe beneficial in multiple ways. Not only would it generate additional funds for the club to invest, but it would also create more flexibility within the wage budget.

Transfermarkt values Pepe at €22 million, which provides an estimate of his current market worth. This valuation serves as a reference point for potential negotiations and discussions regarding his transfer fee.
