Arsenal could repeat Real Madrid Martin Odegaard transfer trick by signing Eduardo Camavinga
Based on Martin Odegaard’s recent performances, Arsenal may have the player of the season on their roster. The Norwegian has been in exceptional form and was an integral part of the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the North London derby last weekend, which gave them an eight-point lead in the Premier League.
Odegaard joined for a bargain £35 million two summers ago, and Real Madrid’s misuse of another young, talented midfielder could present a similar opportunity to when they snatched him from the Bernabeu.
Eduardo Camavinga joined Real Madrid in the same summer that Odegaard left the club for Rennes, but he has struggled for playing time since his £27.7 million transfer. Due to this, Edu can attempt to repeat his brilliant transaction.
According to the Spanish news source Revelo, Carlo Ancelotti’s treatment of Eduardo Camavinga is not understood within Real Madrid. The French midfielder was substituted at halftime for the second consecutive game.
Given his left-footedness, his age, and his reputation as one of the most highly coveted young midfielders in the world, Camavinga could represent a good investment for Arsenal. And Edu is able to replicate the blueprint for negotiating a deal for Odegaard if he pursues such a course of action.
After failing to make the squad as a 16-year-old, Odegaard primarily played for Real Madrid Castilla before spending two seasons on loan in the Dutch league.
He then had a successful loan spell at Real Sociedad in 2019, which was intended to provide him with first-team experience prior to his return to Madrid. But despite excelling at Sociedad and demonstrating his ability to adapt to La Liga football, his playing time in Madrid remained limited, and in January 2021, Arsenal agreed to a loan deal for the midfielder.
This was followed by a permanent transfer that summer, as a result of his impressive performance during his initial brief Premier League stint. Camavinga could follow in the footsteps of Odegaard, who joined Real Madrid as a promising midfielder before him. Taking into account this and the difficulty he is likely to encounter in unseating the current midfield options at Real, Camavinga could very well follow the same path.
Arsenal must acquire a midfielder to improve its depth in the center of the field. As a former champion of the Champions League, Camavinga is an excellent option for Arsenal.
