Arsenal fans think Mikel Arteta is making WRONG team selection as full Ballon d’Or shortlist is confirmed
Supporters of ARSENAL are firm in their belief that Mikel Arteta must implement a significant alteration to his initial team selection.
The manager of the Gunners has continuously maintained his preference for deploying David Raya, on loan from Brentford, as the goalkeeper for the entire season.
Yet, supporters of the North London club strongly advocate for Arteta to reintroduce Aaron Ramsdale as the team’s primary goalkeeper. Their push comes after Ramsdale secured an eighth-place position in the Yashin Trophy shortlist during the Ballon d’Or awards.
The Yashin Trophy, named in honor of the legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin, recognizes the world’s top goalkeeper annually. The English international outperformed competitors such as Lens’ Brice Samba and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, whereas Raya didn’t even make the list.
Fans voiced their opinions on social media, urging Arteta to grant the 25-year-old another opportunity in the starting lineup.
One Arsenal supporter tweeted: “Where is RAYA here ahead of him now?”
Another commented: “Respect his name.”
A third posted: “Where is Raya in all of this ?”
This fan said: “That’s why we should start him over Raya.”
And that one wondered: “Where was Raya ???? Where did he rank ???? Oh wait, he didn’t!”
This follows a string of mistakes made by Raya while guarding the goal this season, particularly evident in matches against teams such as Manchester City, Lens, and Chelsea.
