‘Arsenal fans think they invented football’ – Ex-Spurs player begs Guardiola and De Bruyne to stop Arsenal

Neil Ruddock, a former Tottenham defender, has expressed his disappointment with Manchester City for allowing Arsenal to take the lead in the Premier League.

As a former Liverpool player, he has advised Pep Guardiola and Kevin De Bruyne to improve their performance to prevent Arsenal from winning any trophies this season.

Arsenal is currently leading the table with a five-point margin, and they are on track to win the league title after 19 years.

This possibility is overwhelming for Ruddock, who began his career at Millwall and later played for Tottenham, QPR, West Ham, and Crystal Palace – all London-based clubs.

During an appearance on the  Sports Breakfast show, Ruddock made a public appeal to both Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, and Kevin De Bruyne, the team’s star playmaker.

He said: “Pep, De Bruyne, please get yourselves together, speak to each other.

“Talk, don’t hold it all in, speak to each other, Pep – I need you – I need Man City.

“I’ve never needed Man City in my life, but I need them now.

“Don’t let Arsenal win the championship. Don’t let them win the Premier League, please! I’ll have to move!

“Listen Pep, you’re not only letting Man City down, you’re not only letting Man City’s fans down, you are letting every team in London down except Arsenal!

“Arsenal fans think they invented football, no they didn’t!

“Pep, De Bruyne, please talk.”

De Bruyne’s performance has been inconsistent lately, with him starting only five out of Manchester City’s last nine games since the World Cup break.

Despite being just 31 years old, the former Chelsea midfielder has jokingly referred to himself as an “old man” in the sport while addressing his inconsistency ahead of City’s upcoming Champions League match against RB Leipzig.

Manchester City may face further setbacks this weekend, with Arsenal potentially extending their lead to eight points.

While City competes against Burnley in the FA Cup, Arsenal will be playing against Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Sunday, in a Premier League match.
