Arsenal ‘handed fine’ after Liverpool clash as Mikel Arteta’s side ‘given sanction’

Liverpool suffered a setback in their pursuit of the Premier League title over the weekend, succumbing to a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal

Despite maintaining a two-point lead at the top of the table, with Manchester City having a game in hand, Liverpool’s lackluster performance and costly errors proved detrimental.

Notably, key players such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah were absent, but this was no justification for their poor showing.

ArsenalBrief

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal capitalized on Liverpool’s subpar display, with uncharacteristic mistakes from Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker further hindering their efforts.

Although Arsenal celebrated their victory fervently, recent developments have tempered their joy. Nonetheless, the significance of this win remains intact, albeit slightly overshadowed.

As reported by the Daily Mirror, Arsenal is facing a fine of approximately $31,000 (£25,000/€29,000) due to receiving six bookings from referee Anthony Taylor during their recent match. This level of disciplinary action triggers a fine from the FA for the team’s lack of discipline.

Among the starters, Benjamin White, William Saliba, Gabriel, Declan Rice, and Kai Havertz all received bookings, with Jakub Kiwior, a halftime substitute, also being cautioned.

On Liverpool’s side, Joe Gomez and Darwin Núñez were booked, with Ibrahima Konaté receiving two yellow cards and being subsequently sent off in the 88th minute.
