Arsenal handed longterm boost as Erling Haaland agent confirms transfer plan after ‘wrong club’ claim
Arsenal’s chances in the Premier League may have received a boost in the long run.
This is because discussions are reportedly taking place about the future of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, according to his agent.
Haaland has been unstoppable this season, scoring 27 goals in 24 Premier League matches, but despite his success, City currently sit in second place in the league, five points behind Arsenal.
As a result, some are questioning whether Haaland’s playing style is suitable for Pep Guardiola and City.
“He [Haaland] might have picked the wrong club to actually get the best out of him,” Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher claimed on Sky Sports. The striker has occasionally been isolated in games with few touches, though debate rages on as to whether his goal record negates that.
It’s possible that the striker may need some time to adjust to Guardiola’s requirements, and it’s unclear how long he’ll stay at Manchester City.
His father, Alfe-Inge Haaland, has suggested that his son may depart after three or four years, and there is already speculation about which team he could join next.
Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has revealed that her agency has plans in place for all of their clients when it comes to moving on from their current teams.
Speaking at the FT Business of Football summit in London, Pimenta stated that it’s crucial to have a goal in mind and a plan in place, as it’s impossible to achieve success without direction.
“When we have a player, we make plans. Even if the player is 15 years old. We are planning out his career trajectory. When I started in this business, if I would say to a player ‘I’ll bring you to England’ the first thing they would say would be ‘what did I do wrong? Why don’t you like me?’ But now, if I ask a player ‘what is your goal?’ he will say the Premier League. He doesn’t say City, Chelsea or Arsenal but the Premier League.”
The super agent went on to add that discussions with clubs around the world continues for their clients, continuing: “The day the market [transfer window] finishes is the day I start visiting clubs to talk about players, to see what may be in the future. We are in February, I have already been to rounds of clubs four times this year.
“There are so many different clubs, we can be studying, who’s going to retire, who’s getting old, who’s injured, who’s doing bad. Maybe this will happen there. It’s like a chess game and you try to anticipate the next move.”
It’s still unclear what Haaland’s future plans are, and while his father’s comments may suggest a potential departure in a few years, there’s no telling where he might end up.
For Arsenal, signing someone like Haaland would be a massive boost to their chances of achieving sustained success in the Premier League, especially given their recent resurgence in the title race.
The team is once again in the running for the championship, and winning this season would be a significant achievement, but their ultimate goal is to achieve long-term success like City.
If Haaland were to depart, it would be worthwhile to monitor the situation at the Etihad Stadium, even though they have demonstrated that they can win the league without a traditional forward.
