Arsenal in talks with 21-goal player, but he says he dreams of Man City move
Raphael Veiga, a playmaker for Palmeiras, is being sought after by Arsenal, Wolves, and Fulham.
However, in a conversation with TNT Sport, Veiga admitted that he dreams of joining Manchester City, one of their Premier League rivals.
Veiga, who is 27 and a late bloomer, has been included in Ramon Menezes’ first Brazil squad since the team’s exit from the Qatar World Cup.
Alongside other players like Vitor Roque, Robert Renan, and Andrey Santos, Veiga could make his Selecao debut in a friendly game against Morocco this weekend. He undoubtedly deserves this opportunity.
Veiga has established himself as one of the most prolific midfielders in world football, having scored almost 70 goals in the past three seasons, with 21 of them coming in the 2022 campaign alone.
His impressive form has reportedly caught the attention of Fulham, Chelsea, and Arsenal, who have been actively recruiting Portuguese-speaking players under the guidance of sporting director Edu Gaspar.
Wolverhampton Wanderers, on the other hand, are struggling to score goals and would greatly benefit from Veiga’s productivity in the final third of the pitch.
They currently have the joint-lowest goals scored in the entire Premier League.
Raphael Veiga dreams of Man City move
When asked by TNT Sport which club he dreams of playing for in Europe, Veiga quickly and enthusiastically responded with “City.”
While Arsenal, Chelsea, and other clubs have reportedly held talks with Veiga about potentially bringing him to the UK, the good news is that he is unlikely to turn down an offer from one of England’s top clubs, even if Manchester City does not make an approach for him.
“(Moving abroad) is a goal,” the player himself says. “I think I’m more and more prepared for that. Things happen in the time they have to, it’s a dream of mine.
“It’s hard to pinpoint a country,” Veiga adds. “But there are some countries that, watching the games, fill my eyes; England and Spain. These are places I like to watch. It’s football that I follow the most.
“I would stick with these two countries.”
