Arsenal loanee returns and joins 1st-team training
Miguel Azeez has come back earlier than expected from his loan period with Wigan Athletic and has rejoined the Arsenal first-team training this week.
Despite being on loan with UD Ibiza and then Wigan Athletic this season, Miguel Azeez was supposed to stay with Wigan until the end of the season.
However, he has now come back to Arsenal and joined the first-team training under Mikel Arteta. It seems that Azeez will not be part of Wigan’s squad for their upcoming game against Rotherham United on Monday, as he hasn’t made an appearance for Wigan since January.
Miguel Azeez has returned to Arsenal after reports of a heated argument between Wigan manager Shaun Maloney and Miguel’s father and brother during Wigan’s game against Reading last week.
Femi Azeez, who plays for Reading, was involved in the match, and the result confirmed Wigan’s relegation to the Championship. After the game, Femi and his father confronted Maloney on the pitch.
“Miguel hasn’t really had an easy time there,” Azeez Sr had said previously. “He started with Kolo Toure and the new manager came in and hasn’t really trusted him, which has been disappointing.”
Miguel Azeez had a limited involvement with Wigan and only managed to make 13 appearances across his two loan spells, in addition to four appearances for Arsenal’s under-21 team in August.
It has been a disappointing season for Azeez, and it’s unclear what the future holds for him. However, he can focus on improving his skills and fitness by training with Arsenal for now.
