Arsenal make huge Mikel Arteta decision after Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool exit announcement

Arsenal has taken a significant step regarding the tenure of manager Mikel Arteta in response to Liverpool’s revelation that Jurgen Klopp will be departing after nine years.

The announcement of Klopp’s departure surfaced on Friday morning, eliciting opinions from various Premier League managers, including Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino, and Ange Postecoglou.

“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff,” Klopp said in an emotional interview with the club’s website. “I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.”

Klopp’s departure from English football after almost a decade could result in a significant power shift among the Premier League’s top clubs, as Liverpool begins the search for a new manager.

Xabi Alonso, the former midfielder, is the frontrunner for the role, given his impressive performance in his first senior managerial position at Bayer Leverkusen, where the team currently leads the Bundesliga.

Despite this, Liverpool considering a manager already in the Premier League is a possibility, with Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi emerging as an obvious candidate.

There have also been mentions of New Spurs boss Postecoglou and even Luton Town manager Rob Edwards as potential options.

However, it seems that Arsenal can rest assured about retaining Arteta, as per information from the @GeoffArsenal Twitter account. Arteta is anticipated to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, with an official announcement expected soon.

The current deal with the Gunners’ boss is set to expire in 2025, and he had previously extended it 18 months ago.

Arteta faced challenging periods during his tenure as Arsenal’s manager, particularly when it seemed inevitable that he would be sacked following a dismal run of form in late 2020. Despite the difficulties, Arsenal chose to stand by their former midfielder.

Over time, Arteta has effectively overseen a substantial reconstruction of the club, with the north Londoners now competitive for top honors once again.

As a result, it appears that he is poised to receive a lucrative new contract as a reward for his efforts.
