Arsenal may have an even more significant signing up their sleeve after Trossard
Leandro Trossard appears to be joining Arsenal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, things are moving swiftly with this deal, and it may not be long until the Belgian is officially unveiled as an Arsenal player.
Although the exact value of this transfer has not been disclosed, it is safe to assume that it is in the region of £25 million, which is what Brighton has been asking for the player this month.
The fact that Arsenal has already committed £80 million to a deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk makes a £25 million move for Trossard interesting at this time.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that there’s a big gap between those two prices; if Arsenal’s total spending on the Mudryk deal was £80 million, they should have about £55 million left over after signing Trossard.
It’s not guaranteed that Arsenal will use that cash this month, but it would make good sense for them to do so.
If you’re up eight points in the league and trying to win your first championship in 19 years, you probably aren’t going to leave that kind of money sitting around.
There is no better time than now for Arsenal to spend their cash.
There are also glaring weaknesses in the team that need to be addressed. It has been reported that the north London club is interested in both a left-sided central defender and a new defensive midfielder. Adding either player for a significant sum of money would provide Mikel Arteta’s squad with the spark they need to win the Premier League.
Arsenal can’t afford to stop at just one strategy in their pursuit of the league title, so after signing Trossard as a Mudryk replacement, they may have more funds available for a much larger signing than Mudryk.
