Brighton’s surprise loan signing of Barcelona prodigy Ansu Fati in the summer raised eyebrows, and Arsenal is closely monitoring his development.

Formerly Barcelona’s number 10, Fati initially emerged as one of the most promising young talents globally, drawing comparisons to Lionel Messi and inheriting Messi’s shirt number upon the Argentine legend’s departure.

However, at just 21 years old, Fati’s career has faced setbacks, including a prolonged injury that hindered his performance.

Arsenal eye up Ansu Fati

According to a report from Football Transfers, Arsenal, along with Liverpool and Manchester United, has expressed interest in acquiring Ansu Fati on a permanent deal during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Spanish international has made a positive start at Brighton, contributing four goals and an assist in 12 appearances across various competitions. He is gradually recovering his pace and goal-scoring confidence.

Fati possesses versatility, capable of playing on both wings and up front. Mikel Arteta appears eager to enhance his squad with a rapid attacker, considering previous links to players like Pedro Neto.

Should Arsenal sign Ansu Fati?

Following Pedro Neto’s injury, Arsenal’s plans regarding the acquisition of a winger in the January transfer window have become uncertain.

The club now faces a decision on whether to address the immediate need for a winger during the January window or wait until the summer to make potential signings.

If Arsenal opts to wait for potential signings and Ansu Fati becomes available, he could be a highly valuable addition to the team. Fati’s versatility would allow him to rotate with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, offering flexibility by playing through the middle as well. His exceptional speed could significantly enhance Arsenal’s attacking prowess.

If Fati regains his top form at Brighton, he has the potential to evolve into a world-class talent, contributing significantly for years to come. Similar to Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, Fati has faced challenges in the past year, but a fresh start under Mikel Arteta could provide the platform for him to thrive.

When Fati initially burst onto the scene at Camp Nou, he was viewed as a player who could be a cornerstone for Barcelona for the next decade. Like Odegaard, he is a talented individual who has experienced a challenging period but could flourish with a change of environment.

The decision regarding Fati’s willingness to permanently leave Barcelona and potentially join Arsenal remains uncertain. Whether he prefers to compete for his place under Xavi or seek a new opportunity elsewhere is unclear. Nonetheless, Arsenal will closely monitor Fati’s performance at Brighton throughout the season.
