Arsenal reach full agreement over four-year deal with 23-year-old English winger
Arsenal is proceeding with their plans to extend the contracts of their current top players, and they have recently reached an agreement with Reiss Nelson.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal and the 23-year-old English winger have verbally agreed on a new four-year contract, which includes the option for an additional season, ensuring that Nelson will continue playing at the Emirates Stadium.
In preparation for the upcoming season, Arsenal is actively working to secure the long-term commitment of their key players.
Since Mikel Arteta took over as manager, he and Edu Gaspar have been dedicated to this project, and they have enjoyed a notable level of success in their efforts so far.
Since the summer of 2021, Mikel Arteta and Edu have been actively constructing a young squad at Arsenal. They have strategically acquired talented players from other clubs, taking advantage of opportune moments, and now they are focusing on renewing the contracts of these players due to their impressive performances.
During the previous season, Emile Smith-Rowe and Eddie Nketiah extended their contracts, ensuring their continued presence at the club.
This season, Arsenal has already successfully renewed the contracts of Aaron Ramsdale, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka, solidifying their commitment to the team.
Recently, it was revealed by David Ornstein that the club has also reached an agreement on a new contract for William Saliba, putting an end to the speculation surrounding the defender’s future.

In addition to their ongoing contract negotiations with Martin Odegaard and Ben White, Arsenal also prioritized resolving the future of Reiss Nelson, a 23-year-old English winger who had been on the fringes of the first team. Nelson gained confidence during his loan spell at Feyenoord but mostly served as a substitute under Arteta this season. Despite limited playing time, Nelson had a remarkable moment when he scored a 97th-minute winning goal against Bournemouth, which earned him a special place among the fans.
However, Nelson’s contract was set to expire this summer, and after initial rejections, Arsenal persisted in their efforts to secure his future. Following a determined pursuit, it was reported that Nelson was close to signing a new contract.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Arsenal has now reached an agreement with the English winger. Nelson has verbally committed to a four-year deal with the option for a fifth year.
While specific details regarding his wages remain unclear, it is expected that Nelson’s salary will increase. This agreement puts an end to the speculation surrounding his future, as there were Premier League clubs interested in signing him. Arsenal sees a future for Nelson and intends to utilize him more frequently, particularly in the Champions League.
With internal contract discussions successfully concluded, Arsenal will now shift their focus to signing key players in the upcoming transfer window. Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo are among their top targets, and more signings are expected as the window progresses.
