Arsenal readies ‘monstrous offer’ for £15m Serie A striker
Reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal are getting ready to make a significant proposal for Rasmus Hojlund, who is a striker for Atalanta.
Last August, the 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund transferred to Atalanta from Strum Graz in a deal worth €17 million (£15m) and has had a strong start with the club in Italy. He has already scored seven goals this season and also earned two senior caps for Denmark in 2022.
La Repubblica reports that Arsenal has been closely monitoring Hojlund’s performances in Serie A this season and is contemplating making a move for the Danish international during the summer transfer window.
Despite Arsenal’s interest, it’s reported that Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, is also a big fan of Hojlund and sees him as a potential long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.
Atalanta, however, considers Hojlund as an integral part of their future plans and holds a strong bargaining position, as the striker has four years left on his contract, which he signed last summer.
Earlier this month, Atalanta’s head coach Gian Piero Gasperini stated that Hojlund possesses “similar characteristics” to Manchester City’s striker, Erling Haaland.
“Hojlund has this spirit, energy, intensity, but also technical quality that is just remarkable. He still has so much margin for improvement, too,” Gasperini said.
“He has very similar characteristics to Haaland, not just his face.
“He is so quick, he’s under 11 seconds over 100 metres and that’s not even trying very hard.
“Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very fast. I am convinced he’ll have a great career, he just gets stronger every day.”
