Arsenal Star Emile Smith Rowe Stuns Fans with Enigmatic Foreign-Language Tattoo
Arsenal supporters are confused by Emile Smith Rowe’s recent tattoo choice, as the young player decided to have Spanish words inked on his body.
The 22-year-old, originally from Croydon in south London, has faced difficulties at Arsenal recently due to injuries, which affected his season while his teammates put up a strong challenge against Manchester City for the title. Smith Rowe underwent groin surgery in September and struggled to regain a consistent spot in Mikel Arteta’s team.
Despite making 14 appearances throughout the entire season, none of them were as a starting player. As a result, there were speculations that Smith Rowe might consider leaving the club during the summer. However, his recent tattoo suggests that he has great confidence in manager Arteta and his position at the club.
One of the recent videos on the TikTok account @astartattoos featured Smith Rowe showcasing his new tattoo. The tattoo, displayed prominently over his left hip bone, consists of the phrase ‘confia en el proceso,’ which translates to ‘trust the process’ in Spanish.
Following the reveal, Arsenal fans wasted no time in expressing their opinions. One fan raised a question, perhaps expressing their curiosity or doubt: “what is going on?” One branded the tattoo as “wild” whilst another declared “this can’t be real.” Others suggested Smith Rowe got the new tattoo in order to stand a better chance of starting matches, as one joked: “He’s Arteta in for real.”

After enduring a challenging beginning to his tenure as manager, Spanish coach Arteta has earned the trust of Arsenal fans by transforming the team into genuine contenders for the title.
While it remains uncertain how much Smith Rowe will be involved in Arteta’s future plans, there are reasons for him to be optimistic about his role in the team’s upcoming stages.
Speaking after Arsenal’s title hopes had already bit the dust, Arteta said: “”I have to be critical of myself. My job is to get the best out of 24 players we have available and I haven’t been able to do that. There are three or four I would say that still have huge potential but for different reasons, they haven’t been able to do that [this season].
“Whether it’s injuries or game time or whether it’s because I haven’t had the opportunity or I have decided not to play them enough.”
Undoubtedly, Smith Rowe falls into the mentioned category, as he was fit and available from January onwards but struggled to secure playing time.
There was even an instance where he was substituted on in the first half against Bournemouth but later substituted off in the second half.
The arrival of Leandro Trossard further added to the competition for his spot in the team, and the potential arrival of new signings in the upcoming summer could pose additional challenges.
However, it would be unwise to overlook Smith Rowe’s contributions prior to his injury setbacks. His inclusion in the team, alongside the emergence of Bukayo Saka, played a significant role in initiating Arsenal’s new era.
Smith Rowe’s impressive performances nearly earned him a call-up to the England national team, resulting in a new long-term contract and the honor of wearing the coveted number 10 shirt at the Emirates Stadium.
Having a full pre-season to prepare, both Arsenal and Smith Rowe are poised for an important campaign ahead.
His new tattoo serves as a clear indication of his positive outlook on the direction they will be heading in.
