Arsenal tipped to replace ‘bizarre’ Kai Havertz with transfer for £74m whiz whose ‘footballing IQ is off the charts’
Arsenal has received advice to part ways with Kai Havertz, who joined the team for £65 million from Chelsea a few months ago.
The suggestion is to opt for an upgrade by bringing in fellow German Florian Wirtz, praised for his exceptionally high “footballing IQ.”
Mikel Arteta secured the signing of 24-year-old Kai Havertz during the summer, following the player’s modest record of 19 league goals in three seasons at Chelsea.
Arsenal had hoped that deploying Havertz in a new midfield role, as opposed to his previous forward position, would bring out his best performance. However, after featuring in 19 matches across various competitions for Arsenal, Havertz has managed only one goal and one assist at the Emirates.
Former Arsenal player Jermaine Pennant strongly criticizes Arteta’s transfer decision, expressing confusion over the Gunners’ interest in Havertz given his lackluster stint at Chelsea.
Pennant advocates for an immediate replacement and suggests pursuing Bayer Leverkusen’s playmaker Florian Wirtz, a 20-year-old talent who has attracted attention from Liverpool and Manchester City.
Wirtz boasts an impressive record of six goals and 10 assists in 17 appearances this season, contributing to Bayer Leverkusen’s lead in the Bundesliga.
However, acquiring Wirtz would come at a significant cost, as he is valued at £74 million by his current club.
Pennant told King Casino Bonus: “I need to talk about Kai Havertz. That signing hasn’t worked.
“I thought I’d give him some time to settle in but that period is now over. I think he’s been a poor signing.
“I don’t understand what he brings to the team as he’s not scoring or assisting. It’s bizarre as Arteta seems to believe in him.”
On Wirtz, Pennant added: “I think Arsenal should have gone for Wirtz, his footballing IQ is off the charts.
“He’s not a speed merchant but he’s clever on the ball and he seems to always pick the right pass.
“His assists are great, he has an eye for goal and I think he’d be a fantastic addition to Arsenal, he’d fit in perfectly there.”
