The Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal is considering the acquisition of Borussia Dortmund forward Julian Brandt in the upcoming January transfer window.

Nevertheless, they are in a competitive situation with both Newcastle United and Liverpool also expressing interest in the player.

According to The Athletic, Julian Brandt, the Germany international, shares a close friendship with Arsenal player Kai Havertz. Brandt expressed regret in July about not joining Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool in 2017, although Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah instead. Despite this, Liverpool remains interested in acquiring Brandt.

Arsenal, looking to strengthen their attack in the second half of the season, has shown interest in the 27-year-old, a sentiment supported by manager Mikel Arteta.

Brandt, primarily a left winger, also possesses versatility, being able to play centrally and on the right, making him a valuable asset for the North London club.

Brandt has contributed four Bundesliga goals and four assists in 11 games this season, following up on a successful previous term with nine league goals and eight assists.

While he moved to Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, a transfer to the Premier League could now be appealing to Brandt.

Despite Arsenal’s long-standing admiration, securing Brandt’s services mid-season might prove challenging, as Dortmund is unlikely to be willing to part with such a key player.

Recent injuries to Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus have left Arsenal lacking in attack, necessitating reinforcement in the winter transfer window to enhance their Premier League title chances.

To secure Brandt, Arsenal may need to present a compelling offer, especially considering the extension of his contract until June 2026 last summer.

The Gunners are also exploring other attacking options to bolster their squad, recognizing the importance of adding a quality goalscorer to their ranks.
