Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes delivers two-word response after Brazil squad omission
Gabriel Magalhaes, an Arsenal defender, gave a brief reply when he learned he wasn’t included in Brazil’s squad for the upcoming international break in March.
Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus were also excluded from the Selecao team for the match against Morocco on March 25th.
Jesus has only just returned to training this week after being out with a knee injury since the Qatar World Cup.
Martinelli, on the other hand, has scored four goals in his last three games for Arsenal after struggling to find the net earlier in 2023.
Gabriel, the Brazilian defender, has been an important player for Mikel Arteta’s team at the Emirates Stadium, working well with William Saliba to form a reliable defensive partnership.
Despite his contributions, Gabriel did not make Brazil’s squad for the World Cup and has once again been left out of the team for the upcoming international break.
Despite playing a crucial role in Arsenal’s 14 clean sheets this season across all competitions, the 25-year-old Gabriel has once again been overlooked for a call-up to the Brazilian national team.
Instead, Real Madrid’s Eder Militao and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos have been selected ahead of him, along with Roma’s Roger Ibanez and 19-year-old Robert Renan. Gabriel took to Twitter to express his disappointment, posting a tweet that read”New job basketball emoji wink emoji.” before deleting it shortly after.
After not being called up for the Brazilian national team, defender Gabriel Magalhães posted a basketball and joked: 'My new job'.

Gabriel’s omission from the Brazil squad means he will remain with Arteta’s team during the international break, which is a significant advantage for Arsenal in their pursuit of the title. The Brazilian defender will have the opportunity to rest and prepare for a busy schedule of fixtures in April.
Similarly, Martinelli was also left out of the squad, with Richarlison of Tottenham being chosen over him. Meanwhile, Jesus will have time to fully recover before returning to action.
