Arsenal’s player to face criminal trial over alleged ‘dog attack’ in shocking news viewed as an unwelcome title race diversion
Arsenal’s player Reiss Nelson’s criminal trial over alleged ‘dog attack’
According to Sportsmail, Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson’s dog is alleged to have attacked a masseur at his home in north London in September.
The 23-year-old was charged after Tiago, believed to be a Staffordshire bull terrier, allegedly attacked massage therapist Saeid Motaali on 2 December 2020, leaving him with injuries.
Nelson has been charged with “being in charge of a dog that caused injury while being dangerously out of control.”
On 31 October of last year, he denied the accusation and has since been granted bail without conditions. The date of his trial is September 4.
With Mikel Arteta’s team atop the Premier League table, the shocking news is likely to be viewed as an unwelcome diversion.
The winger has made 11 appearances this season, scoring three goals and assisting on three others, including a dramatic 97th-minute winner against Bournemouth last month.
He is negotiating a new contract with the north London club he joined at the age of nine and where he has made 59 appearances.
On Sunday, the eight-point leaders of the Premier League, Arsenal, will face Liverpool.
