Arteta Arteta delivers Reis Nelson latest injury update
Reiss Nelson is the player for Arsenal that the fans root for the most and want to do well professionally.
The young man, now 23 years old, is a native of the area and graduated from the academy in recent years.
And despite the fact that it appeared as though Nelson’s once-promising Arsenal career might be over, as a result of Mikel Arteta loaning him to the Netherlands the year before, Nelson made a comeback to remain with the senior side this season.
Then, in the month of October, the winger with the jet-heeled shot scored two goals in the Premier League out of the blue to put himself firmly back in the picture under Arteta.
But alas, it turned out to be yet another mirage.
Last week, Nelson suffered an injury in a friendly loss to Juventus, and now the Spanish manager has confirmed that he will be “out for a while” due to the severity of the injury.
He shared the following statement with Football London: “Unfortunately, Reiss picked up an injury against Juventus, and I think he’s going to be out for a while. I’m talking weeks not days. It is expected that he will miss a few weeks of work. Let’s wait a few days to see how he responds to this, shall we? He experienced something right away, which is a red flag for sprinters because it indicates that something is wrong.
This is a devastating turn of events for the young child.
After putting in so much effort over the summer to earn a second chance at Arsenal, and after scoring that double in October to put himself back on the right track, it’s just bad luck that he got injured right before the Premier League started back up again.
At the age of 23, Nelson is at the point in his development where he really needs to play football regularly to continue to progress.
However, at this point it is unclear when even he will be able to return to full fitness; judging by Arteta’s remarks, it seems unlikely that this will happen any time soon.
