Arteta not messing around: “Unbelievable” big Arsenal earner now told he can leave in January

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has reportedly informed one of the Gunners’ players that he is free to leave the club in the upcoming New Year transfer window.

The past few months have been eventful in north London, both on and off the pitch, as the club aims to outperform rivals Manchester City in the current Premier League season.

On the field, the team has had a relatively strong start, securing 10 points from their first four league games, including a thrilling 3-1 victory over Manchester United.

In the transfer market, Arteta and Edu Gaspar wasted no time, securing the signings of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and David Raya from West Ham, Chelsea, Ajax, and Brentford, respectively.

In terms of departures, the Gunners have already said goodbye to Folarin Balogun, Granit Xhaka, Matt Turner, Auston Trusty, Pablo Mari, and Rob Holding on permanent deals. Additionally, Nicolas Pepe, the former record signing, recently left for Turkey on a free transfer.

However, it seems that the club is already planning for 2024, and there is speculation that a high-earning player may also be departing the Emirates.

According to Football Transfers, Arteta and Thomas Partey have come to a ‘mutual understanding’ that the club will entertain offers for the midfielder during the January transfer window. The report indicates that Arteta and Partey had discussions last week, resulting in Arsenal’s willingness to consider offers for the player in the New Year.

Partey is currently earning a weekly salary of £200,000 in north London, a figure that the club is finding difficult to justify due to his recurring injury problems. It is believed that Juventus is among the teams interested in the Ghana international as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba.

At the start of the current season, Partey was a regular presence in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup. However, the 30-year-old was deployed as a right-back in matches against Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Fulham.

Unfortunately, he sustained an injury just before the match against Manchester United, which occurred before the domestic football break. According to reports, this latest injury might sideline him until after the October international break.

Nevertheless, when he’s in good health, Partey has received praise from notable figures like former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, who expressed his admiration for Partey during an interview with talkSPORT, as reported by Football London.

“Yeah he’s [Partey] brilliant, it’s really nice to see. I think now every weekend when Arsenal have to play, I have to be honest, I would go just to watch him. He’s just unbelievable.”

Since his transfer from Atletico Madrid in 2020, Thomas Partey has featured in a total of 103 games for Arsenal, making contributions to nine goals. Nevertheless, it seems increasingly likely that his time at the club is coming to an end.

In the event of Partey’s departure, Mikel Arteta has alternatives in the form of Declan Rice, Jorginho, and Mohamed Elneny, all of whom can fill the role of senior holding midfielders. Whether Arsenal opts to seek a replacement for Partey during the winter transfer window remains an intriguing prospect. Thus, his situation is one worth monitoring in the coming months.
