Arteta reacts to prediction that Man City will pip Arsenal to title
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta dismissed a prediction that Manchester City will win the Premier League title.
Arsenal are currently six points clear of City at the top of the table, but a projection by sports analytics company Opta predicted that City will win the title.
Arteta was amused by the prediction and said that he is focused on Arsenal’s own performance. He said that Arsenal will continue to work hard and try to win every game.
Arsenal will face West Ham in a London derby this weekend.
“If you asked them at the start of the season for sure it was like this, so nothing has changed,” Arteta said.
City have won nine consecutive matches in all competitions, and their star striker Erling Haaland has scored an incredible 45 goals this season, making him the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer in a single season.
However, Arsenal appear to be in good shape, and Arteta is pleased with the progress they have made during his tenure.
He said: “The aim at the moment when I took the job was to bring the club back to where it belongs and is fighting and being around every single trophy that is possible at the highest level. That’s what we are trying to do.
“We are happy where we are and now we have to finish the job and that’s going to demand an extra bit from everybody.”
