Bernd Leno makes Arsenal title prediction and renounces ‘toxic feelings’
Bernd Leno has given his forecast for the Premier League title and emphasized that he harbors no negative emotions, despite departing Arsenal for Fulham during the summer.
Until Mikel Arteta’s decision to replace him with Aaron Ramsdale, Bernd Leno was Arsenal’s preferred goalkeeper.
Between 2018 and 2022, he played in 125 matches for the Gunners. However, he left the Emirates for Fulham prior to the current season.
Leno, who is a Germany international, has stated that losing his place to Ramsdale was a bitter experience, and he believes politics played a role in his departure from Arsenal.
In a recent interview, Leno has expressed that he holds no negative emotions towards his previous team and is actually supporting them to win the 2022-23 Premier League title.
“I don’t have toxic [feelings] or bad energy for Arsenal,” Leno told the Evening Standard.
“It didn’t end in the perfect way, but my reception at the Emirates was really good.
“I get fans coming up to me saying, ‘thank you for your four years… you were very good.
“I was really happy with my performances. Even when they dropped me, I did nothing wrong.
“I came through the front door and I left through the front door. I still have a connection to the club.”
When asked whether he believed Arsenal could win their first top-flight title since 2004, Leno responded by saying, “I hope they do it, and I think they can.”
At present, Arsenal holds a five-point lead over second-placed Manchester City with 12 games remaining in the season. Meanwhile, Leno’s new team, Fulham, is also having a successful campaign in the Premier League.
