Caicedo ‘worried’ Arsenal dream is ruined after talk he’s heard
According to sources speaking to Football Insider, Moises Caicedo is concerned that a transfer to Chelsea in the upcoming summer is unlikely after a proposed move to Arsenal failed to materialize in January.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal made bids for the 21-year-old midfielder, but Brighton rejected them and maintained that the player was not available for transfer.
In January, Moises Caicedo asked his club Brighton to let him leave, leading to him pushing for a transfer to Arsenal, who had their bids rejected.
As a result, Brighton asked the Ecuadorian player to stay away from the club until the transfer window closed. After the transfer window, Caicedo returned to Brighton and played in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on February 11th.
However, sources have informed Football Insider that both Caicedo and his representatives are concerned that a summer transfer to Arsenal or another interested team may prove to be more challenging than a winter transfer.
According to the sources, Moises Caicedo’s agent is aware that there will be a large number of highly-rated midfielders available in the summer transfer window.
Some clubs may prioritize other players over Caicedo, such as Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham. However, despite Chelsea’s recent acquisition of Enzo Fernandez for £106 million, Caicedo is still being monitored by the club ahead of the summer transfer window.
Although Moises Caicedo still has a contract with Brighton until 2025, he intends to push for a transfer in the summer. So far this season, he has made 23 appearances for the team under Roberto de Zerbi and has contributed with one goal and one assist.
