Casemiro issues warning to Saliba and Saka as Arsenal ready for Man United encounter
Manchester United has issued a serious warning to Arsenal. Not only did the visitors to Selhurst Park appear to be comfortably en route to three points last night, but their key midfielder Casemiro was on track to face the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
After the Brazilian was shown a yellow card and a Michael Olise free kick snatched the victory from Erik ten Hag’s team, the situation changed dramatically in the span of ten minutes. Therefore, Arsenal will not have to face the former Real Madrid player, who was suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season.
Arsenal has now received a warning and has two players who could face suspension if they receive a booking against United. With a new yellow card limit in place after this game, the Gunners could avoid losing a player to a fifth yellow card in a pivotal season, despite the fact that their next opponent may be Everton, who is battling for survival.
Both William Saliba and Bukayo Saka are the subjects of scrutiny in this instance. As was the case against Chelsea and Marc Cucurella, Saka was frequently fouled out of frustration after not being awarded a free-kick for an apparent infraction.
Saliba has been cautioned four times for relatively common center-back infractions. In recent weeks, his partner Gabriel Magalhaes has appeared to be the more accomplished player, possibly because Saliba has been walking a tightrope while on the ban threshold.
In the event that the five-card rule is eliminated after Sunday’s game, a ten-card rule will replace it. Therefore, if Saka or Saliba receive another six cards in the future, they will be suspended for two matches.
However, Manchester United manager Ten Hag has minimized his suspended player’s impact on Sunday’s match against the league leaders. After the 1-1 draw in south London, the Dutchman recalled Manchester United’s victory over Arsenal earlier in the season without Casemiro in the starting lineup.
“Casemiro is obviously a very important player for us, and he is one of the reasons for our current position,” he said.
“We have a squad, and we need to make a proper plan and fill that void with the squad. We have already demonstrated how to defeat Arsenal as a team.”
Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in north London, Arsenal squares off against Manchester United.
