Danny Welbeck names Arsenal icon as the best player he has played with amid Man United snub

Danny Welbeck, the striker for Brighton, has expressed that his former teammate at Arsenal, Santi Cazorla, is the most exceptional player he has played with.

Despite having played with many football legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney, and Robin Van Persie, among others, it was Cazorla who impressed him the most.

The two players were part of the same team at Arsenal from 2014 to 2018, and Cazorla’s skills left a lasting impact on Welbeck, who had been part of Manchester United’s academy before.

Earlier this season, when asked about the best player he had played with, 32-year-old Danny Welbeck responded to GOAL by saying that it was his former teammate at Arsenal.

“That’s a very difficult one because I played with a numerous amount of players.

“[Someone who was] Really, really gifted was Santi Cazorla. He was incredible. Left and right foot, football intelligence, receiving the ball, playing passes through, and breaking the lines. He was the one I was like, ‘Wow’.”

When asked about the greatest player he has faced, Danny Welbeck chose former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger, Eden Hazard. According to Welbeck, Hazard was a formidable opponent, who was difficult to handle on the pitch.

Hazard, who scored 110 goals in 352 games for Chelsea, left the club for Real Madrid in 2019 for a fee of €100 million. Although his stint at the Spanish club has not been as successful, he was a dominant player during his time at Stamford Bridge.

“The best player I played against, I would have to go with Eden Hazard. When he was at Chelsea he was unbelievable. His balance, his agility, his movement. He was pretty much unplayable,” Welbeck added.
