David Raya drops potential selection hint on social media ahead of Everton clash
Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya, might surprisingly make his debut at Goodison Park today, and he dropped a suggestion about his potential inclusion on Instagram.
This summer, the Spanish international joined the team from Brentford in a surprising transfer, especially considering Aaron Ramsdale’s outstanding performances last season. However, Raya has yet to make an appearance for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Raya gained significant acclaim for his impressive performances at Brentford over the past few years, and Arsenal’s goalkeeping options have never appeared this strong.
There were reports before the international break suggesting that Raya could replace Ramsdale as the starting goalkeeper for an extended period, and Raya has now hinted that he might be about to make his first appearance.
He shared a matchday graphic on his Instagram story, possibly indicating that he will be in the starting lineup for today’s challenging away match against Everton.
Despite this hint, Arteta’s selection decision has not been officially confirmed one way or the other.

David Raya in for Ramsdale?
While Ramsdale may not have replicated his exceptional form from the previous season at the start of this one, it’s important to note that he hasn’t made any significant mistakes or performed poorly enough to warrant being benched under normal circumstances.
Nevertheless, the arrival of Raya likely implies that both goalkeepers will need to elevate their performance levels to maintain their position as the starting choice. It’s probable that Raya has received assurances that he will be given an opportunity to compete for his place in the team.
Initially, it was anticipated that Raya would make his debut in either the Champions League or the Carabao Cup. However, there is now a possibility that he could make his league debut, and this development might serve as motivation for Ramsdale to elevate his own performances.
The competition for the goalkeeper position has intensified significantly, and whoever gets the nod will need to be in top form, considering the high level of competence between both goalkeepers. Arsenal has only managed to keep one clean sheet this season, and if Raya can contribute to the team securing their first victory at Goodison Park since 2017, it would certainly be a promising start for him, assuming he does indeed play today.
