De Gea laments Arsenal’s unfair advantage following suspension
David de Gea is disappointed that Casemiro will miss the team’s trip to Arsenal due to a suspension incurred during Manchester United’s midweek draw.
Casemiro entered Manchester United’s midweek away match against Crystal Palace with four Premier League bookings, one away from suspension.
Therefore, the midfielder had to complete the game without receiving a yellow card in order to play against Arsenal.
Casemiro brought Wilfried Zaha to the ground in the 80th minute, earning a yellow card; the card could have been red.
David de Gea stated that the former Real Madrid player’s inability to play at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday is a major setback for United.
“Losing Casemiro for Sunday is a huge setback,” said de Gea. “I don’t understand why Arsenal doesn’t play in the same week as us, as we do.
Now, one of our best players is absent. I don’t understand. Now we are missing him for a big game, which is a significant loss for us.”
Even though it’s true that Arsenal didn’t have to play in midweek and United did, it was not Arsenal’s decision to avoid midweek action.
In fact, numerous fans have asked the Premier League repeatedly when they intend to reschedule the Everton match that was postponed four months ago.
With both teams having exited the League Cup early, there have been numerous opportunities to schedule a match against Everton at Goodison Park. Despite this, league organizers continue to delay.
While de Gea was clearly pessimistic, United manager Erik ten Hag was optimistic about the team’s prospects without Casemiro.
The last time we defeated Arsenal without Casemiro, said ten Hag. “Casemiro is obviously a crucial player for us, and he is one of the reasons for our current success.
“We have a squad, and we need to make a proper plan and fill that void with the squad. We have already demonstrated how to defeat Arsenal as a team.”
