Declan Rice close to completing Arsenal move, £100m deal now agreed
Arsenal and West Ham United are nearing a significant agreement for Declan Rice, which would set a new record for the club. The deal is valued at more than £100 million.
Arsenal has identified Declan Rice as their primary target for the upcoming summer transfer window, and they are poised to outmaneuver Bayern Munich and Manchester United in securing his signature.
Although Arsenal has not yet made a formal bid, discussions with West Ham have been progressing positively, as reported by The Guardian.
There is an increasing sense of assurance that the deal will be finalized in the near future.
As part of the agreement, Arsenal is prepared to present a £90 million offer, but West Ham has expressed a desire for additional add-ons, pushing the overall fee beyond £100 million.
The negotiation of personal terms is anticipated to proceed smoothly, as Declan Rice is enthusiastic about joining Mikel Arteta’s side. The Arsenal manager sees him as a crucial player who can contribute significantly to their pursuit of another Premier League title challenge in the upcoming season.
Declan Rice recently celebrated lifting the Europa Conference trophy with West Ham after their triumph over Fiorentina in Prague last Wednesday. It is widely believed that this was his final game for the club, indicating his impending departure.
“We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going,” West Ham chairman said the day after that victory. “You can’t ask for a man who has committed more to us this season.
“In due course, he has to get on and we have to get a replacement – or several replacements.
“It’s not something we want to happen. We offered him £200,000-a-week 18 months ago. He turned it down.
“It’s cost him £10million to stay at West Ham in that time [in lost wages]. And he wants to go.
“You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.
“There are three or four clubs who have shown interest, but out of respect to West Ham, while we’re still playing, you don’t make offers for players. That’s not the way decent clubs do things.”
