Edu breaks silence over Arsenal’s talks with Juventus for Dusan Vlahovic and Thomas Partey
Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, suggests that engaging in negotiations with Juventus could be challenging, particularly in relation to discussions about Dusan Vlahovic and Thomas Partey.
Arsenal has a longstanding interest in acquiring Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, and reports from Italy suggest that the club may pursue a deal in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 23-year-old Serbian international has an impressive record of 28 goals and seven assists in 75 games for the Serie A club, making him a target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to strengthen the team’s attack.
However, financial constraints might limit Arsenal’s spending in January unless they can generate funds through player sales.
One player potentially on the departure list is midfielder Thomas Partey, who has attracted interest from Juventus.
Speculation has arisen about the possibility of a swap deal between Arsenal and Juventus, but sporting director Edu remained elusive when questioned about potential talks at the Golden Boy awards in Turin, where Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli was also present.
Edu humorously remarked, “No, they are too tough with us!” indicating the challenges Arsenal may face in negotiations with Juventus.
Edu, the sporting director for Arsenal, expressed praise for his strong relationship with the club’s manager, Mikel Arteta, upon receiving the title of Best European Director at the Golden Boy awards.
“With Mikel, we have created something special,” Edu told Marca.
“We started as two known footballers who wanted to do something in the football world.
“Working with Mikel is a pleasure. He’s a great professional and a great person. When these two facts combine, everything becomes simpler.
“I’m very lucky to be at Arsenal working with Mikel. We discuss things, mostly about the club, and I can say that we are having a really good time together.
“It was a pleasure to become the director of Arsenal. I’m so proud to receive this award because as soon as I stopped playing, I immediately went to the other side, and to receive this recognition is a real privilege.”
