‘Eight days ago’: Ian Wright now reveals what Edu said to him at Arsenal’s training ground last week
Ian Wright revealed the details of his recent visit to Arsenal’s training ground, sharing the conversation he had with Edu and Mikel Arteta. Wright discussed this on the latest episode of his podcast, Wrighty’s House.
The discussion took place in response to Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Brighton, which effectively dashed their hopes of winning the title.
Despite a cautious first half, Arsenal failed to find their momentum in the second half. Brighton’s Julio Enciso capitalized on a chance in the box to score the opening goal, and Deniz Undav took advantage of a mistake by Leandro Trossard to further extend Brighton’s lead.
Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan sealed the comprehensive victory that not only kept Brighton’s hopes of qualifying for Europe alive but also dealt a final blow to Arsenal’s chances of winning the title.
Mikel Arteta will feel disappointed with the manner in which his team lost the match yesterday. Throughout the season, Arsenal displayed a fighting spirit, often securing victories in the dying moments of games, but that resilience seemed to fade away in this defeat.
However, Ian Wright finds encouragement in what Edu has conveyed to him regarding Arsenal’s plans for the upcoming season.
There is a belief that this phase marks just the beginning of a larger project, and significant improvements are on the horizon. Despite the current disappointment, Arsenal is a team that is currently progressing and moving in a positive direction.
Wright shares Edu message after Arsenal training ground visit
Speaking on his podcast, Wright said: “Me going to the training ground eight days ago, and listening to Mikel [Arteta] and Edu.
“Talking about the excitement of what they believe is happening at the club.
“The players that they’re looking to get now, the players that are more than interested in coming.
“Now, they’re answering the calls, now Edu’s getting calls and what we’ve got to do now is like Mikel says, trust the process.”
Arsenal has been associated with several players lately who would be highly interested in joining the club at the Emirates Stadium. Declan Rice seems to be their primary target, and his aspiration to compete in the Champions League will assist Arsenal in their pursuit of him.
Another player they have been linked with is Moises Caicedo, although he may not be warmly received by Arsenal fans currently. This is due to an incident where Caicedo made a foul on Gabriel Martinelli, resulting in the Arsenal physio describing it as “disgraceful.” As a consequence, Martinelli had to be substituted due to an ankle injury.
