FA review Rodri ‘incident’ in Man City vs Liverpool clash as Arsenal standard set

The Mirror reports that the Football Association (FA) is examining an incident that occurred during Manchester City’s 4-1 win against Liverpool. City’s Rodri committed a foul on Liverpool’s Gakpo shortly after receiving a yellow card.

This caused several members of Jurgen Klopp’s team to surround referee Simon Hooper and demand that Rodri be shown a second yellow card. Hooper did not comply, and Rodri was not sent off.

However, Liverpool may face punishment if the FA determines that they violated FA rule E20.1, which requires players to behave in an orderly manner.

In January, Premier League leaders Arsenal were charged twice for allegedly breaching the rule in matches against Newcastle United in the league and Oxford United in the FA Cup.

During a match against the Magpies, Arsenal players surrounded the referee in the 95th minute when they didn’t receive a penalty for Jacob Murphy’s arm touching the ball in the box from a Granit Xhaka cross, resulting in a 0-0 draw.

In the match against Oxford, Kieran Tierney, Mohamed Elneny, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Albert Sambi Lokonga all confronted David Coote, the official, after his strike hit an opposition defender’s arm in their 3-0 win.

Arsenal received a fine of £40,000 for the incident with Newcastle and appealed the FA’s decision on the Oxford match, but their appeal was unsuccessful, and they were charged with a £60,000 penalty.
