Fabrizio Romano clarifies Arsenal’s stance on a possible swap transfer with PL club
Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Declan Rice’s transfer and dismissed the possibility of including Emile Smith Rowe in the deal.
Romano, writing exclusively for CaughtOffside via the Daily Briefing on Substack, stated that it is uncertain when Arsenal will make their initial offer for Rice, but they intend to do so in the near future.
Declan Rice is a highly talented player for England, and it is likely he will secure a significant move.
However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal or any other club can present an acceptable offer to West Ham, who will not want to lose such an integral player for a low price.
A recent report from the Sun suggested that West Ham wanted to acquire Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal as part of the deal.
However, Romano makes it clear that Arsenal intends to retain the 22-year-old midfielder.
“Arsenal want to submit a proposal for Declan Rice,” Romano said. “We’ll see for sure when the offer is made, it’s hard to predict the day for now.
“Smith Rowe, however, is part of Arsenal’s plans for the future, they don’t want to let him go.”
Although Emile Smith Rowe had limited playing time in the previous season, it is likely that most Arsenal fans will be delighted to know that Mikel Arteta still intends to provide him with opportunities.
If Declan Rice leaves West Ham’s London Stadium, the Hammers will likely need to explore alternative options to strengthen their midfield.
