Fabrizio Romano delivers Mohamed Elneny claim after he signs new Arsenal deal
Mohamed Elneny, a prominent football player for Arsenal, recently signed a fresh contract with the club.
However, as per Fabrizio Romano’s daily briefing on Caught Offside’s Substack, the Egyptian player was sought after by teams from three different nations before he committed to a new deal with Arsenal.
Currently, Mohamed Elneny holds the distinction of being Arsenal’s longest-serving player. The Egyptian midfielder became a part of the Gunners team in January 2016, during the tenure of Arsene Wenger as the club’s manager.
Despite not being a consistent starter for Arsenal, Elneny has earned respect and admiration from his fellow teammates during his time at the Emirates.
Despite suffering a long-term injury earlier this year, many people thought that Mohamed Elneny, the impressive 30-year-old footballer, would be released by Arsenal when his contract expires. Nonetheless, the North London club demonstrated their class by providing him with a new deal to aid his rehabilitation.
Even though Elneny had the option to refuse the offer and explore other opportunities, he prioritized staying at Arsenal. According to Romano, teams from Spain, Italy, and Turkey all expressed interest in the Egyptian midfielder, but he ultimately chose to remain with the Gunners.
Romano said: “Mohamed Elneny has officially signed a new contract at Arsenal until June 2024. Elneny decided to sign a new contract as he loves the club, feels really good at Arsenal and has a great relationship with Mikel Arteta.
“It wasn’t a difficult choice for Elneny, despite interest from clubs around Europe. Elneny had approaches from Italy, Spain and Turkey, but Arsenal was always his priority.”
Mohamed Elneny is currently recuperating from his injury, and his return to the field is not anticipated in the near future.
Given the circumstances, Arsenal could have made the decision to give up on him, as his contract was set to expire in the summer. However, the club has demonstrated remarkable class by standing by him during his time of need
Instead of releasing him, Arsenal chose to offer Elneny a new contract, which is a testament to their loyalty and commitment towards their players.
“Our way of treating people, our way of living together and what we expect from people is to give the maximum. When it is the other way around and things become difficult, I think the club have to behave in the right way,” Arteta said a few weeks ago while speaking about Elneny (Football London).
Indeed, it will be intriguing to see if Mohamed Elneny will be able to make a comeback and play before the conclusion of the current season. Although his injury has kept him out for an extended period, Elneny has been a vital member of the Arsenal team in the past, and his presence could help them achieve their goals. His recovery progress will be closely monitored by Arsenal and football fans alike.
