Do you recall Shkodran Mustafi, the German footballer who won the World Cup and played for Arsenal for five years?

He’s famously known for his commanding aerial play as well as occasional defensive errors.

At just 31 years old, Shkodran Mustafi amassed over 150 appearances for Arsenal, winning two FA Cups during his time there.

However, his stint at the Emirates Stadium was marked by a mix of outstanding moments and, let’s admit, perplexing mistakes.

In 2021, both Mustafi and Arsenal mutually decided to part ways, leading him to embark on a new journey in Spain with Levante, following a turbulent stint at Schalke.

His experience in the Spanish second division wasn’t the triumphant return to form many hoped for, especially considering Levante’s status in La Liga upon his arrival.

As promotion slipped away from Levante during the playoffs last season, Mustafi found himself without a renewed contract.

And here we are, six months later, with Mustafi still in pursuit of a new club.

He’s still on the lookout for a new club with no thoughts of calling it a day. Mustafi’s been busy – “intensive discussions with those responsible at some clubs,” he told Sport recently. The anticipation, he admits, is “great.” The itch to be back on the pitch, “tingling.”

Whether in Germany or abroad, the world is Shkodran Mustafi’s oyster, as he puts it. With proficiency in five languages (pun intended, given his time at Arsenal), a World Cup medal under his belt, and adaptability refined through international play, he’s open to any opportunity. Rumors suggest clubs like Roma in Serie A are considering him.
