Four matches Gabriel Martinelli could miss as Arsenal injury update emerges amid crucial period
Arsenal’s rising star, Gabriel Martinelli, may have to endure a roughly two-week recovery period if his hamstring injury turns out to be a grade 1 problem.
The Brazilian national sustained this injury during Sunday’s Premier League match against Everton, a game that Arsenal triumphed in with a 1-0 victory.
Martinelli appeared to have opened the scoring at Goodison Park just 19 minutes into the game by calmly slotting the ball past the advancing Jordan Pickford.
However, the goal was eventually disallowed by VAR due to Eddie Nketiah being deemed offside in the build-up.
Following this incident, the 22-year-old was seen clutching his thigh before eventually being substituted for Leandro Trossard, who later netted the winning goal in the second half.
The exact duration of Martinelli’s absence remains uncertain, but if it’s indeed a grade 1 injury, he is expected to be sidelined for approximately two weeks, as indicated by Physical therapy specialist Dr. Rajpal Brar.
Writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), Brar said: “Re: Gabriel Martinelli’s hamstring injury. Seen some say it’s grade 1 injury.
“If true, typically looking ~ 2 weeks but also depends on location (closer to a tendon = longer timeline, typically). He’s also a high pace player = (Up arrow emoji) demand on hamstring. Awaiting more info. #Arsenal.”

Should Martinelli indeed be sidelined for approximately two weeks, he would unfortunately be unavailable for crucial league matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth.
Additionally, he would miss out on participating in a Champions League encounter against PSV Eindhoven and a Carabao Cup fixture against Brentford.
This setback represents a significant challenge for Mikel Arteta and his team, given that the talented winger managed to score an impressive 15 Premier League goals in the previous season, solidifying his position as one of the squad’s most prolific players despite his youth.
When asked about Martinelli’s injury after the full-time whistle on Sunday, Arteta told Sky Sports: “He [Martinelli] felt something, he felt it in his hammy [hamstring] so he will need to be assessed.”
