Gary Neville slams Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya for blunder against Chelsea

Gary Neville heavily criticized David Raya for his mistake that handed Chelsea their second goal in the Premier League match against Arsenal on Saturday.

As Arsenal was already behind due to Cole Palmer’s first-half penalty, their attempt to come back from the deficit became even more challenging when David Raya allowed Mykhailo’s mishit cross to sail over his head.

This proved to be a memorable moment for Mudryk, especially considering his challenging start at Chelsea.

However, it must be acknowledged that Raya’s misplaced positioning essentially handed Mudryk his first goal at Stamford Bridge.

“His position Raya is not good enough he’s far too far forward that is not good from the Arsenal goalkeeper and that should not end up in the back of the net,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“It’s meant as a cross for Raheem Sterling from Mudryk he doesn’t mean to chip him but the fact he can chip him isn’t right.

“He’s too far forward there’s no doubt about that. He’s probably a yard too far off his line. He’s beyond the near post it just isn’t right.

“Why he’s there you’ll have to ask him.”

Raya came close to unintentionally giving Chelsea a third goal opportunity, as Cole Palmer, the England Under-21 international, intercepted the errant pass from the Arsenal goalkeeper. However, Palmer couldn’t manage to convert the ball into the net from a challenging tight angle.

“Look he worried me in the first half against city’.” Neville added.

“He’s struggling in this period in the game he knows that goal is on him. His mistake management isn’t quite there yet.

“It’s a pressure job goalkeeping at top clubs in the country and he’s finding that out.”
