Granit Xhaka ready to QUIT Arsenal in summer with a swap transfer involving winger imminent
Bayer Leverkusen has extended an offer to GRANIT XHAKA to come back to Germany’s Bundesliga, and if he decides to leave, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will not impede his departure.
The 30-year-old midfielder has played an important role in Arsenal’s quest for the title and has won over fans after his previous fallout at the Emirates.
However, Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in West Ham captain Declan Rice, who is valued at £100 million, as well as another central midfielder during the summer transfer window. This could result in Xhaka spending the final year of his contract on the bench.
Leverkusen’s offer of a long-term contract has tempted the former Borussia Monchengladbach player to prolong his career at the top level. This offer may also prompt Arsenal to sell Xhaka for a fee of £15 million.
This, in turn, could facilitate a deal for Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby, who is valued at £50 million, and for whom Arsenal faces competition from Newcastle, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain in the transfer market.
Following his altercation with fans while being substituted and subsequent stripping of captaincy by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery in 2019, Xhaka, who was signed from Monchengladbach for a fee of £38.25 million in 2016, was ready to leave the club.
Arsenal has allocated a budget of £100 million to sign English star Declan Rice, and they are also considering Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Chelsea’s Mason Mount as they aim to qualify for the Champions League next season.
