‘I just can’t hold it’ – Arsenal player reveals he might take up coaching career after retiring

Arsenal’s midfielder, Jorginho, has acknowledged that he’s contemplating a transition into coaching after his playing career concludes.

The 31-year-old Italian international has frequently been observed providing guidance to his Arsenal teammates during warm-ups, and he envisions the possibility of becoming a manager in the future.

As Jorginho approaches the later stages of his playing career, he’s earnestly considering his post-playing options.

“I just can’t hold it,” the Arsenal star said on the Colney Carpool when asked why he is always coaching on the sidelines.

“I want to help somehow when I’m on the sidelines or warming up or from the bench, I just try and help the team somehow.

“Maybe, to be honest, I thought it could maybe be a good option for the future. But I always thought I don’t want to because just playing is already so busy and to be a coach, it is even busier.

“I always thought I didn’t know, but now I get to my age, so maybe I’m changing my mind. I’m enjoying it, it’s nice.”

Jorginho has participated in a total of eight matches in various competitions this season, with two of those games being ones where he started.

Just a few months after joining Arsenal from Chelsea in January, there were rumors linking Jorginho with a potential departure during the summer transfer window.

The possibility of leaving might arise if he continues to face challenges in securing playing opportunities, but it’s important to note that he still holds a significant role as a valuable squad player and a positive influence in the dressing room, thanks to his extensive experience.

Notably, William Saliba recently praised Jorginho for having the best football IQ in the Premier League, suggesting that the midfielder possesses the qualities necessary to excel as a manager.

Jorginho has enjoyed remarkable success as a player, with achievements such as winning the Europa League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea.

He was also recognized as the UEFA Player of the Year and earned a spot in the FIFA FIFPro World11 in 2021.

Furthermore, Jorginho played a pivotal role in Italy’s victory at the European Championship in 2021, earning a place in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament.

Now, his focus is on helping Arsenal pursue the Premier League title after narrowly missing out on it in the previous season.
