Ian Wright fires huge warning to Arsenal over Premier League title race
Ian Wright has cautioned Arsenal that he anticipates Manchester City, who are competing for the title, to not suffer any more defeats in the remaining 12 matches of the Premier League season.
On Saturday, Arsenal found themselves trailing 2-0 against AFC Bournemouth at their home ground and had to score a goal in the 97th minute to clinch a win and earn three points. This victory was crucial for the team from North London, as it helps them maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table and keeps them in the running for their first top-flight championship since 2004.
However, despite being five points ahead of Manchester City, who currently sit in second place, winning the title is still a significant challenge for Arsenal. They have not managed to finish in the top four since the 2015-16 season, and the competition is fierce in the league this year.
Last month, Manchester City defeated Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, and they have won four of the last five Premier League titles. On April 26th, they are scheduled to play against Arsenal at their home ground, the Etihad, in what could be a crucial match for the title race.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has issued a warning to his former club about the challenge posed by Manchester City. He is concerned that Mikel Arteta’s team may have to win every remaining game of the season to have a chance of winning the title.
“Finding a way to win… Arsenal have done that a few times this season and what they are learning on a weekly basis is that this is what is going to have to happen [to win the title],’ he told The Kelly & Wrighty Show.
“If I’m playing in Arsenal’s dressing room right now, I’m not expecting City to lose any more games. You know that you’re going to have to go out there and if it goes to the last second, that’s what you’ve got to do.
“You don’t want to look yourself in the mirror and say you could have tried harder in this game or that game.
“You get some luck… You get some bad luck… But you’re not stopping, you are fighting until the end.”
Wright added: “When you look at Arsenal’s next two [top-flight] games, Fulham and [Crystal] Palace, they are two teams who can both cause Arsenal problems.
“If they get something out of one of those games, it could be a problem. Palace for Arsenal at home is a difficult game. We probably have to win all of our [remaining] games.
“Arsenal have got Liverpool away [coming up], this Liverpool… the rebirth! They’ve assembled again! From now till the end of the season, you can’t call anything.”
