‘I’m told it’s true’- Romano confirms Arsenal could sign £35m player this summer
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal may purchase Jesper Lindstrom, a midfielder from Eintracht Frankfurt, for £35 million in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Lindstrom, who joined Frankfurt from Brondby IF for £6 million last summer, has become a crucial player in Oliver Glasner’s starting lineup, contributing to the team’s success in winning the Europa League last season.
As a result of his impressive performances in the German top-flight, Lindstrom has attracted interest from various major European clubs, including Arsenal.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal and Liverpool have begun discussions about potentially signing Jesper Lindstrom.
Fabrizio Romano, writing for Caught offside, has confirmed that Arsenal is aware of the midfielder’s situation, and Eintracht Frankfurt would be willing to sell him for a fee of £35m (€40m).
However, Romano notes that no progress has been made in terms of bids or proposals for the Danish international.
Lindstrom to Arsenal
Romano said: “There has been some strong speculation about Arsenal and Liverpool being in contact over trying to sign Jesper Lindstrom from Eintracht Frankfurt. I’d never deny info from others; can just say that I’m told it’s true that Premier League clubs are informed on Lindstrom but I’m not aware of proposals, bids or advanced negotiations yet. Price tag could be around €40m.”
Frankfurt has the advantage of having Lindstrom contracted for over three more years, which gives them the power to demand a substantial transfer fee if they agree to let him leave after this season.
Lindstrom has performed well this season for Frankfurt, scoring seven goals and contributing two assists in 22 Bundesliga games.
He is a versatile attacking midfielder who possesses technical skills, speed, creativity, defensive work rate, and goal-scoring ability.
Although he would make a valuable signing for Arsenal, who are seeking to bolster their midfield, they already have Odegaard, Smith Rowe, and Vieira in their squad and do not require another player in the number ten position.
As a result, it would be wise for Arsenal to save the £35m transfer fee and allocate it towards strengthening other areas of their team.
