‘It says to me’: Ian Wright makes huge Aaron Ramsdale claim after seeing him dropped for Raya at Everton

Today, Arsenal faced Everton and successfully rebounded from the international break, securing a vital three-point victory.

In light of recent victories by teams like Spurs, Liverpool, and Manchester City, Arsenal recognized the significance of keeping up their own momentum.

However, the main topic of conversation prior to the match revolved around Mikel Arteta’s decision to substitute Aaron Ramsdale with David Raya, a move that sparked discussions among pundits, including Ian Wright.

Working for Premier League Productions today, Ian Wright, a former Arsenal player, was naturally expected to share his opinion on the Ramsdale/Raya situation.

However, instead of adopting a negative stance, Wright believes that this decision indicates Arteta’s intention to utilize the English goalkeeper in the upcoming midweek match, rather than a total exclusion from the squad.

“This is the time to start changing. It wasn’t going to be long before we saw David Raya. I think it’s not a bad thing,” Wright said.

“You want two top players in each position, that’s how you keep the players wanting to play at their very best all the time, and I think it’s time for him to get his chance. It says to me that Ramsdale probably plays on Wednesday (v PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League).”

Raya appears to have settled comfortably into his debut, and for Ramsdale, there may well be a sense of unease regarding his prospects moving forward.

Mikel Arteta has undoubtedly discussed his decision today with Aaron Ramsdale, but the Englishman has no legitimate grounds for complaint.

Ramsdale himself displaced Bernd Leno in the past, and he can’t reasonably object to the club’s ongoing efforts to enhance the team.

In Arteta’s case, it will be intriguing to observe how he handles the situation overall. If there is even a hint of dissatisfaction from Ramsdale, it’s likely that the club will swiftly consider moving him elsewhere.
