Ivan Toney and four other players Arsenal have been tipped to sign in January
Arsenal is positioned just one point behind the Premier League’s top spot, and it’s evident that Mikel Arteta is already considering potential moves in the January transfer window.
Although the Gunners boast a solid squad currently, there is room for improvement in specific positions to elevate their performance to the next level.
We’ve examined Arsenal closely and identified several players who have been strongly rumored to be potential additions to the team in the upcoming January window.
Ivan Toney
Even without playing a single game this season, Toney’s market value has consistently risen. According to Sky Sports, Brentford places a £100 million price tag on their star player, drawing interest from clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea.
Although Arteta has shown confidence in Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, there is a recognition that someone of Toney’s caliber could significantly enhance their capabilities.
Former Arsenal player Sol Campbell believes that the striker position remains an area where Arsenal could make notable improvements.
“In the end, they will have to decide by January, do they need a centre forward. 20 to 25 goals in the Premier League. You know, in those big, tight games. I think it will help them,” Campbell told The Mirror.
“There’s Ivan [Toney]. I think they’re good [in other areas of the pitch]. Centre-forward is one thing they might need to look at and see the possibilities, see what’s out there, or wait until next season.”
Dusan Vlahovic
Another potential forward option for Arsenal is Vlahovic, a player they have been linked with for an extended period. Juventus is said to value Vlahovic at £50 million, which is half the amount Brentford is asking for Toney.
According to reports from TuttoJuve, Arsenal is gearing up to make another attempt to secure the 23-year-old, who has impressively scored 27 goals in 73 appearances since joining Juventus in 2022.
Sacha Boey
The right-back from Galatasaray was on Arsenal’s radar during the summer transfer window, and recent reports from Fotospor suggest that both Manchester United and Arsenal have deployed scouts to monitor the defender’s performance this season.
Boey, the player in question, recently acknowledged Arsenal’s interest in the summer. However, he clarified that although there were discussions between Galatasaray and Arsenal, there was no concrete offer made at that time.
In his words to Carre, he stated, “There were talks between Galatasaray and Arsenal, but in any case, for me, when there is interest, and there is no offer, it means nothing. There is a huge difference.”
Douglas Luiz
Due to the uncertainty regarding Thomas Partey’s future, there is a possibility of Arsenal considering another midfielder.
Recent rumors suggest that Arteta is impressed with Aston Villa’s Luiz, who has had a strong start to the season with six goal contributions in the Premier League.
However, acquiring the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder might be challenging as Aston Villa values him at £60 million, a figure that could exceed Arsenal’s willingness to spend in the upcoming January transfer window, as per reports from TEAMtalk.
Ruben Neves
Arsenal is contemplating another midfield option in the form of Neves. While Newcastle is also interested in securing the services of the Al Hilal midfielder on loan, there’s a potential obstacle as Premier League clubs may vote to prevent affiliated clubs from loaning players to each other, complicating the deal.
Fortunately for Arsenal, they won’t be impacted by the outcome of this vote, giving them a potential advantage over Newcastle in the pursuit of the 26-year-old. As reported by Sport, Arsenal is expressing interest in a January deal, but only time will reveal whether this interest translates into a concrete agreement.
