Kevin De Bruyne issues honest verdict on Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge collapse
Manchester City’s standout player, Kevin De Bruyne, has issued a cautionary message to Arsenal and the other teams in the Premier League following his team’s fifth championship victory in the past six years.
Despite Arsenal’s early season lead, their form declined in the final two months, allowing City to capitalize and secure the title. Mikel Arteta’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, leading to City’s coronation as champions.
De Bruyne has acknowledged that his team will always relish the experience of winning and will never tire of it.
“We like to win and we’re never bored of it,” said the Belgian international. “We’ve won a lot in the past, but we want to win again and again.
“I’m sure the future will be the same. It’s incredible, to win three times in a row. It’s hard work, but we deserve it. The hunger is there, the mentality is good and it’s a good group.
“We just want to play good football. Pep makes sure the group stays hungry and the group is very humble.”
De Bruyne also made sure to commend Arsenal for their impressive performance during the early stages of the season, highlighting their exceptional form that allowed them to accumulate 50 points by the midpoint of the campaign.
“The league doesn’t lie – we were the best,” he added.
“Arsenal were incredible – especially in the first part of the season. In the end though, we deserved it. We came back and we’ve won a lot of games.”
