Man City manager Pep Guardiola makes major Arsenal concession after Man United win

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, conceded that he made an error in his strategy during the 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal earlier this month. Gabriel Martinelli’s late goal secured the win for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, marking an end to their 12-game losing streak against City and preserving their unbeaten league start.

In the match in North London, Guardiola’s team struggled and found their attacking options limited, particularly with the absence of Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri. Even the highly proficient goal-scorer Erling Haaland ended the game without registering an expected goals figure.

Despite this setback, City has rebounded with two consecutive wins, drawing them level on points with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. Their recent 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, featuring Erling Haaland’s double and a goal from Phil Foden, brought them within two points of league leaders Tottenham.

Guardiola, in an interview with Sky Sports after the game, was questioned about his thoughts on how his team reacted after the defeat to Arsenal.

He said: “Arsenal won because they are a fantastic team. I would say my strategy was not good.

“We played in a different way because I thought the space would be in different positions and after that, I said it was not good but it happened. The players know the Premier League is tough. Brighton was important to break that defeat and after the way we played against Young Boys helped us a lot. “

Jamie Carragher praised Guardiola’s team for their impressive display in the resounding victory over United, acknowledging that their performance at Old Trafford made a significant statement. When asked if they are considered favorites to win the title, Carragher stated: “Yes, of course. I don’t think there is any debate about that.

“I think the thing with City is they are a little bit like when I would come against Gary (Neville) and Roy (Keane) where even if Manchester United were not top at this stage, it was almost like they are getting ready for the second half of the season in some ways.

“Today was a big game and they put on a show to let everybody know how good they are and that they are still the team to beat. I think they will win the league comfortably, I really do.

“I don’t think Liverpool are quite ready to mount a serious challenge, Arsenal obviously did that last season, and even though they have made a great start, I don’t see them playing as well as they were at this stage last season. I just think City will win it.””
