Man United “believe they can persuade” player to choose them over Arsenal transfer
Manchester United is said to be interested in recruiting Declan Rice, a midfielder from West Ham United, during the upcoming transfer window.
Rice, who is an English player, has had a fantastic season at London Stadium, and it appears inevitable that he will eventually join one of the big six clubs.
According to Ben Jacobs, a columnist for CaughtOffside, Arsenal is the front-runner to sign Rice this summer, and the deal may cost around £100 million or slightly less.
According to the Sun, Declan Rice’s performance against Manchester United over the weekend has made him a top target for the Red Devils.
A source cited in the report stated that United is confident about convincing the 24-year-old midfielder to join Old Trafford, particularly due to his friendship with fellow English players such as Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw, which could prove to be crucial.
The source told the Sun: “Rice is fast emerging as United’s number one summer target.
“He completely ran the game and United’s coaching staff and scouts were all talking about him after the match.
“There’s a growing belief that Rice is interested in leaving at the end of the season and United believe they simply have to ensure he heads north and not to Arsenal or Chelsea.
“Declan is good friends with Marcus and Luke Shaw from England. Man Utd believe they can persuade Rice that his future lies with them in Manchester.”
It’s clear that Arsenal is in need of a younger midfielder to replace aging players such as Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, and Jorginho. At the same time, Manchester United could benefit from signing Declan Rice as an upgrade over inconsistent performers like Scott McTominay and Fred.
