Marc Cucurella sends Mikel Arteta clear message after Arsenal star handed shock new role
Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella has reached out to Arsenal’s recent acquisition, Kai Havertz, with a message following the German player’s deployment in a new position during international duty.
Havertz made the move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium in June for a £65 million transfer fee.
Despite facing challenges in meeting expectations, particularly in his role as an attacking number eight for Arsenal, Havertz took on a different position as a left-back for Germany in a recent friendly against Turkey.
In that match, he scored the opening goal within five minutes, earning praise from Cucurella, his former teammate at Chelsea.
Writing on his former teammate’s latest Instagram, Cucurella said: “LB (fire emoji).” Die Mannschaft head coach Nagelsmann was also full of praise for Havertz after the match.
“I don’t see this as a risk for him, but as a very, very big opportunity to play a key role at the Euros,” the ex-Bayern boss said regarding his compatriot’s new role. “Kai said he wanted to do it, wanted to try it — for a first time in an unfamiliar position, he did extremely well.”
